Dominion Lending Centres Homestead Financial ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting personal information and collecting, using and disclosing personal information only in accordance with applicable privacy legislation. We understand that exploring a reverse mortgage is a significant decision, and maintaining your trust is our top priority.

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

Personal Information is defined as information that is gathered in connection with an application, pre-approval, request for information for a mortgage(s), loan(s), insurance or other products offered through our brokerage. We collect the following information from you directly, or via credit reporting agencies:

Identifiers and Contact Information: Your full name, address, telephone/cell phone number, email address, and your Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Financial and Employment Information: Your occupation, salary, duration of employment, bank information, credit information, income, assets, liabilities, and existing property details (including principal amounts of 1st and 2nd mortgages).

Note regarding your SIN: Provision of your Social Insurance Number is optional; however, most Credit Reporting Agencies use the SIN as a unique identifier to ensure proper identification. If you do not wish to provide your SIN, our ability to order a timely and accurate credit report may be affected.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use your personal information strictly to deliver our services. Your information may be used to:

- Process and evaluate your application for our products and services, including executing credit checks (with your consent).

- Determine your creditworthiness and ability to meet financial obligations.

- Communicate with you, respond to inquiries, or send you personalized offers and marketing communications.

Website Analytics and Cookies

Like many other companies, we use various technologies to collect information and track your activity when you visit our websites. We may use cookies (small files sent to your browser to store information) or web beacons (invisible images placed on certain pages of our websites) to collect personal information about your use of our websites. We may also use this information to market specific products or services to you, or to customize the websites and software applications for you.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell Personal Information to third parties. In order to secure your mortgage, we must share your information with credit bureau credentialed third parties. These may include lending institutions, private investors, appraisers, law firms, Equifax, TransUnion, banks, and finance companies.

We also use third-party software service providers to process and manage your file, including Newton Velocity, Salesforce, Google Workspace, and ActiveCampaign. Information processed through Newton is retained in databases in Canada. Please note that some service providers may operate outside of Canada, meaning your information may be subject to the laws of a foreign jurisdiction.

SMS/Mobile Messaging and CASL Compliance

In accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), we require your consent to send you communications about the latest news, events, products, and services.

SMS Privacy: We do not share, sell, or rent your SMS consent or phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your mobile opt-in data is used solely to provide the services and updates you have requested.

Opting Out: You may withdraw your consent to receiving SMS or marketing communications at any time by replying STOP to our messages, or via the unsubscribe mechanism included in our emails.

Retention and Protection

We protect your personal information in our custody and control from loss, misuse, unauthorized access and alteration by using reasonable physical, organizational and technological security measures. We retain all records that the Mortgage Brokerage is required to maintain for at least six years: After the maturity or expiry of mortgage agreements and mortgage renewals.
